Application

Aquaculture

Achieving a thriving and sustainable aquaculture operation while adhering to environmentally friendly practices hinges on having precise insights into water quality parameters. Without an accurate understanding of these conditions, the health of aquatic organisms can be compromised. This can lead to improper feeding practices, resulting in disappointing production levels, increased input costs, water pollution, and even disease outbreaks.

Fish and other aquatic creatures rely on specific levels of dissolved oxygen (DO) for their survival and growth. Traditionally, aquaculture farmers manually test pH and DO using portable meters, a labour-intensive process that often relies on experience to adjust pH and DO levels to ensure the well-being of their “crop.” However, inadequate DO levels can be harmful to aquatic life, while excessive levels can lead to further contamination. Therefore, maintaining precise levels and accurate measurements is of paramount importance. Additionally, maintaining specific salinity levels is essential to support saltwater species.

Leadtec’s inline controllers and monitors can be installed within aquaculture containers to continuously measure crucial parameters and transmit data to a central location. They can also be connected to dosing pumps, which can automatically adjust pH and DO levels based on real-time data, reducing the need for manual intervention. Furthermore, our optical dissolved oxygen probes are designed for minimal maintenance, requiring just one membrane cap change per year. This streamlines the management of aquaculture systems, enhancing efficiency and ensuring optimal conditions for aquatic life.

Hydro-Air inline controllers and monitors can be installed in aquaculture containers to take continuous measurements and relay data back to a central location.

They can also be attached to dosing pumps to automatically adjust pH and DO levels based on incoming data, thereby reducing the amount of manual servicing required.

In addition, our optical dissolved oxygen probes are designed to be extremely low maintenance, requiring just one membrane cap change per year.

Ensuring a successful and sustainable aquaculture business with environmentally friendly practices

Begins with an accurate and reliable understanding of water quality parameters.

Without an accurate understanding of growth conditions, aquatic health can suffer and improper feeding habits may be used, ultimately resulting in disappointing production levels, high input costs, water pollution and even disease.

Fish and other aquatic animals require specific levels of dissolved oxygen (DO) in order to survive and grow. Traditionally, aquacultural farmers perform the manual testing for pH and DO using the portable meters, which requires intensive man power and so-called “experience” to adjust the pH & DO level to ensure the “crops” are surviving. However, too little DO can be toxic to aquatic life, too much can lead to further contamination, so maintaining precise levels and accurate measurements is crucial. On top of that, specific salinity must be maintained to support saltwater species. The parameters that we can provide are as below:
